Day One-All Day Music Day

Here is some music that you wish you knew and now you do!

.10 Tick Tick Boom By The Hives

From their Black and White Album, their fourth full length album. Great song!

.09 Icky Thump By The White Stripes

Now, come on, everyone has heard this song at least once in their lives! Even if you don’t know the band the song has GOT to ring a bell. Icky Thump was on their sixth and final studio album, Icky Thump, which was released in June 15 2007 in Germany.

"The name of the track comes from the Northern England exclamation “Ecky Thump,” roughly meaning “Oh god!" The phrase was popularized in an episode of The Goodies. The album title was then changed to "Icky" so that "teenagers would understand it better back in America," in the same way Led Zeppelin took out the "a" so they wouldn’t be referred to as ‘Leed Zeppelin."

.08 Hang Me Up To Dry By The Cold War Kids

Probably about laundry or whatnot, this song is actually quite sexy in a way. If you listen to it, it isn’t really about laundry even though the lyrics speak a lot about clothing and muck:

Careless in our summer clothes
Splashing around in the muck and the mire
Careless in our summer clothes
Splashing around in the muck and the mire

Fell asleep with stains
Cake deep in the knees, what a pain..

Now hang me up to dry
You wrung me out too, too, too many times
Now hang me up to dry
I’m pearly like the white-whi-whites of your eyes

Many comments on this particular song basicly state that the song is about ‘a girl who keeps leading a guy on and then shutting him down again, (rung me out) and he just wants it to end (hang me up to dry)…’

.07 Travelling By Paper Lions

I just happened to come across this band just now, which is amazing because these guys are GRAND! Paper Lions is a Canadian indie rock band and they formed in 2004. They were formely titled The Chucky Danger Band. Check ‘em out!

.08 If I Were A Tree By Forest City Lovers

I just can’t explain it but this Canadian folk indie band has got me hooked! They produce the kind of music that makes you want to run throughout a park with a kite and knee high silly socks! Nuff said.

.07 Us By Regina Spektor

I have known this chic since she began and I was not surprised when I heard this song in (500) Days of Summer! Great song and great film! But this amazing singer songwriter has got me hooked with another great song…

.06 Sailor Song Regina Spektor

Yes! This song is….Wow, no words for it. Makes me want to jump on a catwalk with a beer in my hand and strut my stuff..

.05 See The Sun By The Kooks

I call it my Surfing Song. Reminds me of the beach. So, The Kooks. They are without a doubt My. Favorite. Band. This. Week. A hot fourth-piece indie rock band and I am all ears! Good luck keeping up with these guys!

.04 Fluorescent Adolescent by The Arctic Monkeys

Another of my very much favorites! Ace band, I can tell you that, mates! Fuorescent Adolescent is from their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare. The song was written by Alex Turner, the leading vocalist of The Arctic Monkeys, and his girlfriend at the time, Johanna Bennett. Apparently the song is about getting older and finding out that everything is not as fun anymore. Grrr

.03 Naive by The Kooks

And, we’re back to The Kooks. Great song, and covered by Lily Allen. So check out her cover of the song as well. Both versions are ace, but I really have to favor The Kooks. Gotta love ‘em!

.02 Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor by The Arctic Monkeys

I bet you do…

Aaaaand our Number 01 is……(drum-roll on lap)

.01 True Loves by Hooray For Earth

Very addicting song. But the video is a bit odd…

Hooray For Earth is a rock band formed in New York in 2005, but originally from Boston, Massachusetts. Their music is mainly home-recordings of singer and multi-instrumentalist Noel Heroux.

Well, there goes Day One of my Music Blog. It was quite fun, checking out songs all day with just a turkey sammich and fruit juice at my side. Nice day spent here at my handy lapytop. I hope that you love these songs as much as I do. So off to the steamy bath I go….

Later Alien Beings ^^

If you haven’t heard it, well, where have you been all this time?

Matt and Kim. Enough said. The music that they produce is enough to have you dancing down in the middle of a bus in New YORK CITY!!

Marshmellows and 2 cups of  t e a. Super relaxing!!

I merely happened to come across this ace indie rock band titled The Courteneers. The song is called Not Nineteen Forever, and if you don’t know this band here’s a little something about them.

The Courteneers are an indie rock band that hail from Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. The members include Liam Fray, on guitar and sweet vocals, Michael Campbell on backing vocals and drums, Daniel Moores on guitar, and Mark Cuppello on bass. They formed in the year 2006, and have been rocking it out ever since. They are signed to Polydor Labels, also known to sponsor Ellie Golding and Klaxons, another great band.

Very Much hope that you enjoy them!
